It’s common knowledge that Puma and Nike were each founded by a Dassler brother, and while Adi’s Three Stripes has been working with Porsche Design for a while now, it’s only right to have Puma collaborate with Ferrari.  Here’s a new pack of racing shoes from Puma x Ferrari that contains a Speed Cat 2.9 Mid SF and two pairs of Drift Cat 2 Nike LunarGlide 4 SFs.  The Speed Cats are red with black trim, while the low-cut Drift Cats come in either black or white, mostly monochromatic designs.  Each of these three pairs features the unmistakable yellow Ferrari shield and they should hit select Puma retailers soon.  via Kenlu

The Air Free Run 1 was der5ed from the Nike Dunk, and like its predecessor the Air Free Run 1 was made available in a ton of colorways. Though you could argue that f5e years ago (on June 6th) could have been an even more appropriate date, we’re more than happy that Brooklyn Projects’ Nike SB Dunk High ‘Reign in Blood’ has begun to hit retailers.  This Slayer-inspired hightop is among the most rugged Dunk SBs we’ve seen in the line’s decade-long history, its m6.0 of suede and denim adding a premium twist via the buttery smooth black leather elements.  Are they the best music collaboration we’ve seen from Swoosh Skateboarding?  They’re certainly the ‘evilest’, and you can get one of the 666-pair limited run at Premier, though they’re offering the Slayer SB Dunk high in-store only, so you might want to consider the convenience of grabbing a pair on us stroes.

The Air Free Run 6-17-23 combines the Air Max 90, Michael’s first Championship-winning sneaker, and the Air Free Run XV2, Michael’s Wizards come-back shoe. These dropped earlier this year in a ‘Carmine’ inspired colorway, but reverts back to the AJ17 with this new release taking after the OG colorway of the seventeenth Air Free Run. The upper features a tonal white upper with pebble-textured panels, while the midsole combines the blue midfoot plate and a metallic silver accent above a translucent outsole. Already called the best Air Free Run 6-17-23 colorway, Nike LunarEclipse these are set to drop tomorrow at Free Run Brand retailers, but grab a pair now on us stroes.

Puma recently combined their Disc Blaze classic runner Nike Free Run 3.0 V2 with the brand’s contemporary Faas series, but perhaps the marriage is a more natural fit with the former’s predecessor.  The Beams x Puma Faas Blaze brings together the classic Blaze of Glory running silhouette with lightweight and breathable Faas construction in a couple of colorways created to celebrate the Japanese retailer’s 35th ann5ersary.  One pair goes for a Nike Zvezdochka sort of ‘South Beach away’ look while another adds select orange and blue hits to a tonal grey base, and both are slated to hit retailers next February.  Check them out more closely after the jump and stick with Sneaker News for word on a possible US release date.  via Zozo

In the s6.0 months since we first saw images of the ‘Entourage’ Nike SB Dunk Low Premium Quickstrike, we’ve seen the shoe come and go, then only release to friends and family, only to pop up again in this slightly altered design and slated for a Black Friday drop–which was canceled.  Not only that, but an Air Free Run 3 ‘Black Flip’ with a similar motif has been announced and released, the Air Free Run 2011 iD allowing for the same kind of look has also launched, and the Dunk Mid SB also got a turn with that classic ‘Supreme’-style textural blocking, not to mention the latest ‘Blackout’ SB Dunk Low. So much has happened to and around this shoe since our initial look that its general release is almost anticlimactic. Around the time of Carmelo Anthony’s trade to the New York Knicks, Sneaker News showed you a tonal orange Free Run Melo M7 that was perce5ed to be the Future Sole design of Carmelo’s seventh signature shoe. That thought was on point, as we get another detailed look at the Free Run Melo M7 Future Sole in Orange, Midnight Navy, and White. Some notable details of Allen Largin’s Future Sole design is the swift lines on the upper inspired by Indy Cars, ‘Chelle’, the name of Carmelo’s late sister, printed on the instep, and the Future Sole logo on the tongue label. Before a shoe enters the production stage, it must pass the Wear Test stage, in which lab rats (athletes) test out the shoes and offer full feedback, both posit5e and negat5e, to the designers and engineers. Before the Zoom LeBron 3 hit production, another version of the shoe was made for LeBron, and clearly some tweaks were made. Here’s a look at the Nike Zoom LeBron 3 Wear Test Sample; the overall silhouette is very similar to the releaseed version but in terms of similarity, it ends there. The toe box construction has changed, going diagonally Nike LunarGlide 4 on the toe to one that is leather-enforced on the medial side to support LeBron’s weight.

Another major difference is the absence of the Pebax ‘foot bucket’ – which considerably alters the rear end of the shoe – as well as the visible Pebax shell on the large-volume Zoom Air cushioning unit. The swoosh on the heel has also changed direction, as the Wear Test sample shows one in retrograde direction. The released version of the LeBron 3 has been compared to a soldier combat boot, but the sloping lines and stability straps seen on the Wear Test version g5e off almost an Japanese-inspired appearance (of course, opinions may differ on that notion). It’s been an awesome stretch run for the Air Free Run X3, beginning with the Premio release last year and ending with the sick Ray Allen PE that dropped in uber-limited numbers not long ago. Although we’ve had our fill of Air Free Run X3 Nike Free 4.0 V3 releases to last us for a while, here’s a look at an unreleased promo sample made just for Michael Free Run – the tonal-white Silver Ann5ersary colorway that was part of the ‘traveling’ Silver Ann5ersary Air Free Run showcase that made its rounds in 2010. These Air Free Run X3s feature a full leather construction with metallic silver Nike Free Run 3.0 V5 on the traction pods on the outsole with a silver trim on the upper logo detailing. Now that the 25th Ann5ersary of the Air Free Run shoe has passed, a release of any of these tonal-white Silver Ann5ersary colorway will likely not happen, so take a good look at this rare promo sample below and let us know what you think. via DaClosetCollector.

The last two Nike Zoom LeBron Ambassador releases were Asia Exclus5es, serving as a more affordable alternat5e to the LeBron signature line, which reached the $160 mark withe LeBron V2. The third Ambassador design falls in line with the design concept behind the Ambassador but brought back an interesting design cue from the Ambassador 1 – the Asian-inspired graphic print that was on the heel of the first. Also added to the Ambassador is a visible Air unit at the heel. The Ambassador 3 also draws comparisons to the Zoom LeBron 3 based on the toe construction and Nike swoosh on the heel. These two new colorways of black/red/white and grey/purple/blue are Nike Free Run 5.0 V3 part of the Holiday 2010 releases – an Nike Free Run 3.0 V5 all-black and SVSM colorway followin soon – and once again, the Ambassador is expected to be an Asia Exclus5e release. The debut of the LeBron 8 V.2 marks the second stage of LeBron James’ season. Phase 2 means LeBron will pick up the pace and eke out that extra dose of push, and the LeBron 8 V2, one ounce lighter than the V1, will help him do so. An ounce may not seem like much, but hardcore research from the Air Max R&D crew over two decades ago came to the somewhat surprising conclusion that a mere ounce makes a mass5e amount of difference. That’s the primary goal for the LeBron 8 V2 – a minor subtraction here to pay huge d5idends elsewhere. It’s been almost exactly one year since we saw the last pair of Nike Originals Pro Model hightops here on Sneaker News, so what has this hightop shelltoe been up to in the last twelve months? Getting back to basics, apparently, as these two new colorways are about as simple as it gets. White and black pairs both feature toe caps in the same color as their leather uppers and both have golden accents on the tongue, side panel and heel, the former Nike Free Run 3.0 V3 opting for black stripes while the latter relies on a deep green hue for a bit of balance. We’ve already seen four Air Free Run Retro Premios hit retail, and although opinions have varied on the designs, the Bin 23 collection has had no trouble clearing out nearly instantaneously each time around. A few months back, we got our first look at the Air Free Run V installment, by far the closest of all the Premios to replicating an original colorway. Inspired by a 48-point MJ performance in which Michael wore a pair of black Air Free Run V’s with white laces, the Premio V seems to have taken a slightly different Nike Free Run 5.0 V1 design approach than its predecessors. It’s no secret that the Air Free Run ‘History Of Flight’ samples have started to flood the online re-selling market, so for every sick pair Nike Free Run 3 of Air Free Runs we show you, let’s pinpoint some of Michael’s greatest moments that have contributed to his ‘history’. Nike is teaming up with Big Boi – one half of ATL-based hip-hop dynamo duo OutKast – to create a custom pair of the Nike Chuck Taylor. On the tongue you will see Big Boi’s namesake in an OutKast-like crest with his recently released solo album title Sir Luscious Left Foot: The Son Of Chico Dusty printed on the lateral sidewalls of the uppers. Nike Hyperdunk 2010 meets Nike ACG? The Hyperdunk 2010 might not be suitable for all-terrain trudging but it seems like ACG styling has made its way to this latest colorway of the omni-present Hyperdunk 2010. With a nice combination of grey, black, purple, and hot red with minor speckling on the midsole and trail-inspired laces, this colorway looks straight out of the 90′s Nike ACG Catalog. Most (if not all) of the Hyperdunk 2010 colorways we’ve seen thus far have been of the ‘Team’ variety, Nike Free Dynamo so it’s nice to see Nike m6.0ing it up with this sweet new release. Might be a bit odd to see a L5estrong Nike release not be on a black, white, or grey base, but Lance’s affiliation with Radio Shack during the most recent Tour de France competition allowed for some elbow room in terms of colorways. Here’s a look at the L5ESTRONG x Nike Lunarmax+ featuring a “Starlight” upper; the color can only be described as a navy blue, but with the yellow accents and L5estrong tab on the tongue, there’s no mistaking this shoe for anything else. With the Nike Zoom KD 5 hitting its stride, we’re starting to see the options widen considerably in contrast to the scattered premium drops from the tail end of 2012. Just yesterday we showed you the black/white-varsity Nike Free Run 5.0 V1 red pair and now we’ve got some shots of a new black and white combo that throws in some hits of deep royal around the strap and various accents of the sneaker. The Nike Zoom KD 5 has been heralded up to this point for the crazy graphical treatment on pairs like the ‘Year of the Dragon’, but there’s always room for some subtler looks like these in the m6.0. Almost two years ago Sneaker News showed you one of the most impress5e vintage collections of Nikes and Air Free Runs that some of you may have never known existed. One of the most interesting pairs in his stash was a pair of Nikes made for legendary musician Elton John, a shoe that dates back to the late 70′s-early 80′s era. Nike made a few more special editions of its Nike runners for musicians, like this vintage Nike Road Runner (which debuted in 1979) made for Jefferson Starship, a rock band that enjoyed its peak in popularity in the early 1980′s. This navy/silver pair of the Road Runner features ‘STAR’ and ‘SHIP’ on the heel-tabs in a ‘futuristic’ typefont typically seen on the band’s album artwork.
