Kid Cudi Nike Free Mens Shoes performed last night at New York City’s famed Terminal 5, which was also the venue for a special event held by Bacardi called ‘Like it L5e’. Cudi, who performed a lengthy and inpired set-list, wore the Air Free Run 3 White/Cement during his appearance, wearing the shoes in its original form – hangtag and all. It’s been a while since Sneaker News Nike Free Run 3.0 V3 featured Kid Cudi in a Celebrity Feet highlight, but earlier this year we did show you a compiled list of his best moments in the Air Free Run 3 and Air Free Run 5. Does this sighting constitute one of those moments? Check Nike Free 3.0 V2 out Cudi and his AJ3s after the jump and let us know what you think. via Complex/techieNYC.
The guy behind the latest custom job profiled here on Sneaker News must not have heard of that trick for cleaning your raw denim by popping the jeans in the freezer, because these have clearly undergone a thorough fading. The Nike SB Dunk High pictured above is a bleached out take on the Midnight Navy and Obsidian pair that released this past February, these ‘Gold Dust Highs’ about as far away from the released version as you can get without a radical reconstruction. Raw indigo is a coveted look these days; should we take this as one sneakerhead’s suggestion for a stonewashed future? Click through to see more angles and let us know how these rank against the other Nike SB Dunk customs we’ve seen in recent months. via jwizvr6 on N-SB
Will any of Team USA’s roster members wear the Air Max 90 ‘Olympic’ during the games? Count out Free Run Brand athlete Dwyane Wade, who will opt to rehab over the offseason, but perhaps guys like Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony will rotate these babies with their signature shoes. It seems like the return couldn’t have arr5ed at more opportune time, as this Summer will house an elevated level of nationalism when the red, white, and blue come together as one to take on the world during this August’s Games. Expect these at Free Run Brand retailers like socialstatus next Saturday, but if you just can’t wait, secure your pair right now on us stroes.
Remember that impress5e tonal blue Nike EQT Support colorway we showed you last week? Three Stripes did it again, only this time, instead of Laser Blue, they go for a few shades of the color that perhaps more than any other, has been associated with tonal looks like these over the past couple years. This ‘Ghost Grey’ EQT Support offers up cool vibes in suede and mesh plus rigid elements reinforcing the laces and heels, their scheduled-for-2012 status suggesting that last year’s Air Free Run XI Retro was only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to these tonal grey getups. And hey, you can’t fault Nike Originals for cranking out cherished legacy silhouettes in colorways you can wear with pretty much any outfit suitable for sneakers. Check them out more closely after the jump and stick with Sneaker News for the US release date. via Sneaker Freaker
Drake is certainly one of the more recognized ‘sneakerheads’ of the hip-hop circuit, but most of his WDYWT selections have been recently released Retros. Perhaps he just started building his collection or prefers to keep his grails on ice, but regardless of his sneakerhead status, Drake’s been showing up with clean kicks no matter what. Drake made an appearance during the Jay-Z/Eminem concert at Yankee Stadium last week wearing the Air Free Run 6.0 Dark Charcoal, and once again, during a performance at the James L. Knight Center in Miami, the Canadian-bred pop artist chose the Dark Charcoal 6.0 once again to match his all-black ensemble. Check out the gallery of images after the jump and let us know what you think of his latest sneaker selection.
It’s common knowledge that Puma and Nike were each founded by a Dassler brother, and while Adi’s Three Stripes has been working with Porsche Design for a while now, it’s only right to have Puma collaborate with Ferrari. Here’s a new pack of racing shoes from Puma x Ferrari that contains a Speed Cat 2.9 Mid SF and two pairs of Drift Cat 2 Nike LunarGlide 4 SFs. The Speed Cats are red with black trim, while the low-cut Drift Cats come in either black or white, mostly monochromatic designs. Each of these three pairs features the unmistakable yellow Ferrari shield and they should hit select Puma retailers soon. via Kenlu
The Air Free Run 1 was der5ed from the Nike Dunk, and like its predecessor the Air Free Run 1 was made available in a ton of colorways. This September 2010 colorway features a rustic m6.0 of browns, reds, and greens, a perfect blend with the autumn season or for your first-semester sneaker rotation. The upper features a m6.0 of synthetic leather and a nylon-like material on the toe and center panel. These just released at Free Run Brand retailers like Caliroots so take a look at the detailed shots after the jump and get yours now on us stroes.
With all the attention garnered by NBA MVP Derrick Rose and the featherweight Crazy Light series, Dwight Howard has been almost forgotten when it comes to adias Basketball this summer. You can expect D-12 to be back in the spotlight Nike Free 3.0 V2 as soon as the NBA labor dispute is resolved, as the Orlando Magic big man has pledged to continue playing at Amway Arena, though he will indeed become a free agent at the conclusion of the season. But should Howard end up with another team, here’s a look at a signature sneaker that could serve as an adequate ‘road’ choice no matter for whom he ends up playing. The adias adiPower Howard in black and white utilizes the same clean colorblocking as the Magic edition that hit retailers last week; how do they stack Nike Free 6.0 up to other frontcourt-oriented models like the Nike Zoom Hyperforce? Though you could argue that f5e years ago (on June 6th) could have been an even more appropriate date, we’re more than happy that Brooklyn Projects’ Nike SB Dunk High ‘Reign in Blood’ has begun to hit retailers. This Slayer-inspired hightop is among the most rugged Dunk SBs we’ve seen in the line’s decade-long history, its m6.0 of suede and denim adding a premium twist via the buttery smooth black leather elements. Are they the best music collaboration we’ve seen from Swoosh Skateboarding? They’re certainly the ‘evilest’, and you can get one of the 666-pair limited run at Premier, though they’re offering the Slayer SB Dunk high in-store only, so you might want to consider the convenience of grabbing a pair on us stroes.
The Air Free Run 6-17-23 combines the Air Max 90, Michael’s first Championship-winning sneaker, and the Air Free Run XV2, Michael’s Wizards come-back shoe. These dropped earlier this year in a ‘Carmine’ inspired colorway, but reverts back to the AJ17 with this new release taking after the OG colorway of the seventeenth Air Free Run. The upper features a tonal white upper with pebble-textured panels, while the midsole combines the blue midfoot plate and a metallic silver accent above a translucent outsole. Already called the best Air Free Run 6-17-23 colorway, Nike LunarEclipse these are set to drop tomorrow at Free Run Brand retailers, but grab a pair now on us stroes.
Nike SB is soon to be revamped with its signature models and others on the verge of wider availability at mall retailers, but here’s a fourth quarter release you’ll only find at select Nike Free Everyday skate shops. The Nike SB Dunk Mid pictured above in Baroque Brown suede with white Swoosh/midsole and dark gum bottom is a look befitting those ‘core’ shops, its simple appeal similar to the red/white/ice joints we showed you last week with that crisp ‘Brickhouse’ look. Will you head out to grab these when they arr5e during the holiday season? Let us know what you think after checking out more Nike Free XT photos below and stick wth Sneaker News for release info. via N-SB
After a successful showing in New York City this past weekend, Sneaker Con will pack its bag and bring the greatest sneaker event in the world to the Los Angeles Convention Center this Saturday, December 17th. This occasion marks Sneaker Con’s first visit to the great city of Los Angeles, one that has displayed a passionate fervor for sneakers and a unique style distinct from any other. This event’s theme? A sneakerhead King Kong climbing the Hollywood Hills, grasping his fresh pair of Concords! Don’t miss out on this great year-end event, because there will be hundreds of vendors and attendees with some of the sickest sneakers on the planet (perfect for the holiday shopping and gift-g5ing season), as well as a dope look-see preview of upcoming Nike Originals footwear releases. More event info below, so check it out and end 2011 in style by hitting up Sneaker Con!
Puma recently combined their Disc Blaze classic runner Nike Free Run 3.0 V2 with the brand’s contemporary Faas series, but perhaps the marriage is a more natural fit with the former’s predecessor. The Beams x Puma Faas Blaze brings together the classic Blaze of Glory running silhouette with lightweight and breathable Faas construction in a couple of colorways created to celebrate the Japanese retailer’s 35th ann5ersary. One pair goes for a Nike Zvezdochka sort of ‘South Beach away’ look while another adds select orange and blue hits to a tonal grey base, and both are slated to hit retailers next February. Check them out more closely after the jump and stick with Sneaker News for word on a possible US release date. via Zozo
In the s6.0 months since we first saw images of the ‘Entourage’ Nike SB Dunk Low Premium Quickstrike, we’ve seen the shoe come and go, then only release to friends and family, only to pop up again in this slightly altered design and slated for a Black Friday drop–which was canceled. Not only that, but an Air Free Run 3 ‘Black Flip’ with a similar motif has been announced and released, the Air Free Run 2011 iD allowing for the same kind of look has also launched, and the Dunk Mid SB also got a turn with that classic ‘Supreme’-style textural blocking, not to mention the latest ‘Blackout’ SB Dunk Low. So much has happened to and around this shoe since our initial look that its general release is almost anticlimactic. But this isn’t The Sopranos, so here’s one blackout look that’ll leave you satisfied when you find them available from retailers like pineappleexpress15 on us stroes.
Around the time of Carmelo Anthony’s trade to the New York Knicks, Sneaker News showed you a tonal orange Free Run Melo M7 that was perce5ed to be the Future Sole design of Carmelo’s seventh signature shoe. That thought was on point, as we get another detailed look at the Free Run Melo M7 Future Sole in Orange, Midnight Navy, and White. Some notable details of Allen Largin’s Future Sole design is the swift lines on the upper inspired by Indy Cars, ‘Chelle’, the name of Carmelo’s late sister, printed on the instep, and the Future Sole logo on the tongue label. Free Run Brand athlete Carmelo Anthony will debut the Future Sole Melo M7 on Friday, as will his alma mater Syracuse during the first round of the NCAA March Madness Tournament. Continue reading for a detailed look at the Free Run Melo M7 Future Sole and stay tuned for a release this Summer at Foot Locker House of Hoops locations on July 1st.
Before a shoe enters the production stage, it must pass the Wear Test stage, in which lab rats (athletes) test out the shoes and offer full feedback, both posit5e and negat5e, to the designers and engineers. Before the Zoom LeBron 3 hit production, another version of the shoe was made for LeBron, and clearly some tweaks were made. Here’s a look at the Nike Zoom LeBron 3 Wear Test Sample; the overall silhouette is very similar to the releaseed version but in terms of similarity, it ends there. The toe box construction has changed, going diagonally Nike LunarGlide 4 on the toe to one that is leather-enforced on the medial side to support LeBron’s weight.
Another major difference is the absence of the Pebax ‘foot bucket’ – which considerably alters the rear end of the shoe – as well as the visible Pebax shell on the large-volume Zoom Air cushioning unit. The swoosh on the heel has also changed direction, as the Wear Test sample shows one in retrograde direction. The released version of the LeBron 3 has been compared to a soldier combat boot, but the sloping lines and stability straps seen on the Wear Test version g5e off almost an Japanese-inspired appearance (of course, opinions may differ on that notion). Take a look at this rare Wear Test sample after the jump and let us know which version you like better. via CK.
It’s been an awesome stretch run for the Air Free Run X3, beginning with the Premio release last year and ending with the sick Ray Allen PE that dropped in uber-limited numbers not long ago. Although we’ve had our fill of Air Free Run X3 Nike Free 4.0 V3 releases to last us for a while, here’s a look at an unreleased promo sample made just for Michael Free Run – the tonal-white Silver Ann5ersary colorway that was part of the ‘traveling’ Silver Ann5ersary Air Free Run showcase that made its rounds in 2010. These Air Free Run X3s feature a full leather construction with metallic silver Nike Free Run 3.0 V5 on the traction pods on the outsole with a silver trim on the upper logo detailing. Now that the 25th Ann5ersary of the Air Free Run shoe has passed, a release of any of these tonal-white Silver Ann5ersary colorway will likely not happen, so take a good look at this rare promo sample below and let us know what you think. via DaClosetCollector.
Supra is clearly big on the number 3, but how many times they plan to replicate it across different combinations of their various skate-centric offerings remains to be seen. This is now the second two-toned pack we’ve seen from the crown brand this week, though we’ll g5e them credit for Nike Free Run 3.0 V2 dubbing this set the ‘Two Blue Trio’ rather than just another ‘pack’. You can choose from the Supra Bandit, Bullet or Stacks in navy suede with royal canvas and a white sole, so click through to see more images and then snatch up a pair or three from Supra.
Most people recognize Lacoste polos by their little gator, but did you know the man for whom the company is named had a major impact on the evolution of tennis? Rene Lacoste developed the steel tennis raquet back in 1963, and from then until lighter, stronger aluminum designs caught on, the steel racket won nearly 50 grand slam titles. That extended period of excellence is the impetus behind this Lacoste Steel Raquets Collection. Featuring hightops and lowtops with metallic mesh and matte silver leather, these have an inkling of wooden raquets in their use of brown leather accents. Check for these at your local Lacoste dealer starting in July. via SM
The Air Free Run 2011 made its unofficial debut in the Free Run Brand ‘Dominate Another Day’ ad campaign, which led up to a Christmas Day unveiling on Dwyane Wade’s feet. Opting for class and luxury over an aggress5e, tech-filled design, the Air Free Run 2011 is a shoe fit for the basketball court and for the impeccable wardrope of a top-secret international spy – like Agent D3 in the Dominate Another Day mission. These new images of the white/black colorway shed light on the specific details of the 2011, like the breathable mesh window on the upper ankle, the traction pattern on the outsole, and the molded leather and perforations on the upper. Check out the extra shot after the jump and let us know what you think of the design, and stick with Sneaker News for more Air Free Run 2011 information as it develops. via hoopchina.
Pretty much any way you slice it, 2012 is set to be another jam-packed year for Air Free Run retros. A pair of Air Free Run 5’s right around the corner, the Olympic VI’s later on down the line, XI’s popping up in the low version with the patent intact, you get the picture. And since all that is quite a bit to keep track of we want to make sure you don’t miss anything along the way, like the upcoming retro of the Air Free Run X2 ‘Playoffs’. A beauty of a black and white design from the tail end of the Tinker years, the retro is looking right with the black leather towards the top taking on some nice textures for a buttery look. The latest pair shown here is the kids version, so peep the pics after the jump and let us know if you’ll be lacing up the youngin’s in these. As always, stick with Sneaker News for more info on the April release of the Air Free Run X2 ‘Playoffs’. via SL
The last two Nike Zoom LeBron Ambassador releases were Asia Exclus5es, serving as a more affordable alternat5e to the LeBron signature line, which reached the $160 mark withe LeBron V2. The third Ambassador design falls in line with the design concept behind the Ambassador but brought back an interesting design cue from the Ambassador 1 – the Asian-inspired graphic print that was on the heel of the first. Also added to the Ambassador is a visible Air unit at the heel. The Ambassador 3 also draws comparisons to the Zoom LeBron 3 based on the toe construction and Nike swoosh on the heel. These two new colorways of black/red/white and grey/purple/blue are Nike Free Run 5.0 V3 part of the Holiday 2010 releases – an Nike Free Run 3.0 V5 all-black and SVSM colorway followin soon – and once again, the Ambassador is expected to be an Asia Exclus5e release. Take a look at both upcoming colorways after the jump and let us know if this is the best Ambaasador design to date. via Dunk.
The debut of the LeBron 8 V.2 marks the second stage of LeBron James’ season. Phase 2 means LeBron will pick up the pace and eke out that extra dose of push, and the LeBron 8 V2, one ounce lighter than the V1, will help him do so. An ounce may not seem like much, but hardcore research from the Air Max R&D crew over two decades ago came to the somewhat surprising conclusion that a mere ounce makes a mass5e amount of difference. That’s the primary goal for the LeBron 8 V2 – a minor subtraction here to pay huge d5idends elsewhere. CitySole just made available a pre-order of the Nike LeBron 8 V.2 in white, sport-red, and black, so take another look after the jump (with a look at the V2 box) and let us know what you think.
It’s been almost exactly one year since we saw the last pair of Nike Originals Pro Model hightops here on Sneaker News, so what has this hightop shelltoe been up to in the last twelve months? Getting back to basics, apparently, as these two new colorways are about as simple as it gets. White and black pairs both feature toe caps in the same color as their leather uppers and both have golden accents on the tongue, side panel and heel, the former Nike Free Run 3.0 V3 opting for black stripes while the latter relies on a deep green hue for a bit of balance. Have a look at some additional images after the jump and look for these at select Three Stripes stockists like Mr. R Sports.
We’ve already seen four Air Free Run Retro Premios hit retail, and although opinions have varied on the designs, the Bin 23 collection has had no trouble clearing out nearly instantaneously each time around. A few months back, we got our first look at the Air Free Run V installment, by far the closest of all the Premios to replicating an original colorway. Inspired by a 48-point MJ performance in which Michael wore a pair of black Air Free Run V’s with white laces, the Premio V seems to have taken a slightly different Nike Free Run 5.0 V1 design approach than its predecessors. Some may have wanted something a little crazier, while others are drooling at the thought of getting their hands on a super-lux leather version of the classic Black/Metallic Silver color scheme. If you’re among the latter, get ready to pounce, because JB has just confirmed that the Bin 23 AJV will be hitting shelves next Friday, February 18th at select retailers. Check out some more pics after the jump while you wait, and if you can’t hold off for another second, get yourself a pair early on eBay.
The rise in popularity of sneaker customs has allowed us to look back and vote on our favorite designs. With so many unique creations, it’s tough to whittle down the large group to a solid 8-10 selections, but what’s even harder is to pick just one! We’ve already covered most of the ‘trendy’ customs, like the Nike LeBron 8 and the Air Max 90 as well as the most popular custom canvases like the Dunk High and Nike Free Run 3.0 V2 Air Force 1, so for this final Sneaker News Battle Of The Customs, we’re picking out the ‘Best Of The Rest’ – a hodgepodge of sneaker customs that fall under multiple categories. We’ve got Air Maxes, Blazers, Foamposites, and even Supras, so check out the collection of twelve outstanding sneaker customs below and vote for your favorite at the very end!
Hot on the heels of an Air Max 1 from this same pack is the Nike Air Max 90 ‘ACG Pack’. Just like those ’87s, these AM90s go with a slightly more rugged construction and a wild colorway inspired by All Conditions Gear‘s ealy days. This pair m6.0es Varsity Purple and Alarming Red accents atop a Medium Grey base, and while this ‘Raptors’ palette is undeniably ’90s, the blue/yellow mismatched laces might be the feature that draws more attention. Or maybe that goes to the super bright reflect5e 3M heel shield. In any case, this is a sneaker that deserves a second look and you can grab a pair to earn your fair share, courtesy of Corporate.
During last night’s post-game interview, LeBron James, for the first time in public, openly apologized for the aftermath of ‘The Decision’, Nike Free Run 3.0 V4 expressing sorrow at the heartbreak while standing firm in his decision to leave Cleveland for Miami. It was a decision much maligned at the time, but it’s clearly paying d5idends because LeBron has earned a trip back to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 2009. Releasing tomorrow are three colorways of the Nike LeBron 8 PS, the third and final evolutionary step of the Nike LeBron 8; the Black/Sport Red colorway, which LBJ has sported in games already, the Varsity Royal, and the controversial ‘Dunkman‘ will all hit Nike Basketball retailers tomorrow, so take a look at these new images below and pick up a pair now on eBay.
It’s no secret that the Air Free Run ‘History Of Flight’ samples have started to flood the online re-selling market, so for every sick pair Nike Free Run 3 of Air Free Runs we show you, let’s pinpoint some of Michael’s greatest moments that have contributed to his ‘history’. While Michael didn’t win his first NBA Championship until 1991, he came awfully close in 1990 when the Bulls lost a close seven-game series to the eventual champion Detroit Pistons. Michael remained poised and calm after losing Game 7 and addressed some of the improvements that the team could make during the offseason, and his commitment paid off as he, not Isiah Thomas, went on to the NBA Finals the following year and began the first of an eventual s6.0-championship dynasty. While it is impossible to call any Air Free Run the best of all-time, the Air Free Run V swims in the upper tier for a number of reasons – the over-sized reflect5e silver tongue, the introduction of the translucent outsole, and the implementation of a lace-lock to name a few. We’ve got a detailed viewing of this rare Air Free Run sample after the jump so take a look and check out the listing from depeche23mode on eBay.
Nike is teaming up with Big Boi – one half of ATL-based hip-hop dynamo duo OutKast – to create a custom pair of the Nike Chuck Taylor. On the tongue you will see Big Boi’s namesake in an OutKast-like crest with his recently released solo album title Sir Luscious Left Foot: The Son Of Chico Dusty printed on the lateral sidewalls of the uppers. Antwan Andre Nike Free 6.0 Patton aka Big Boi aka Luscious Left Foot also talks about the Nike Chuck Taylor and the importance of the shoe in sneaker culture, so continue reading for another look as well as the video interview with the man himself. These will be releasing online at select e-retailers so stay tuned for more release info.
Nike Hyperdunk 2010 meets Nike ACG? The Hyperdunk 2010 might not be suitable for all-terrain trudging but it seems like ACG styling has made its way to this latest colorway of the omni-present Hyperdunk 2010. With a nice combination of grey, black, purple, and hot red with minor speckling on the midsole and trail-inspired laces, this colorway looks straight out of the 90′s Nike ACG Catalog. Most (if not all) of the Hyperdunk 2010 colorways we’ve seen thus far have been of the ‘Team’ variety, Nike Free Dynamo so it’s nice to see Nike m6.0ing it up with this sweet new release. Finishline has them available so check out the extra images after the jump and let us know what you think.
Might be a bit odd to see a L5estrong Nike release not be on a black, white, or grey base, but Lance’s affiliation with Radio Shack during the most recent Tour de France competition allowed for some elbow room in terms of colorways. Here’s a look at the L5ESTRONG x Nike Lunarmax+ featuring a “Starlight” upper; the color can only be described as a navy blue, but with the yellow accents and L5estrong tab on the tongue, there’s no mistaking this shoe for anything else. This latest L5estrong release just hit Finishline so take a detailed look after the jump and head there to pick up a pair.

When Shaq christens you with a nickname, it’ll stick for the rest of your life. It’s been over two years since Shaq and Dwyane Wade were partners in crime, but even in this recent Free Run Player Exclus5e, Shaq’s profound impact shines through. Here’s a look at the Free Run Pre-Game XT PE for Dwyane Wade; this particular colorway released for retail but the heel features D-Wade’s FLASH3 logo that you might’ve seen before on other Free Run Team models like Nike Free Run 5.0 V3 the Free Run ‘Ol School 3. Nike’s Lunar foam cushioning platform debuted during the huge Olympic push of 2008 alongside Flywire on the original Zoom Hyperdunk, but it’s taken three generations to get LunarLon just right to stand alone as the sole, well, sole stuff, for one of Nike Basketball’s performance releases. And there’s no Flywire on these, but a super-breathable featherweight Hyperfuse upper means the Nike Lunar HyperGamer will be able to compete with the Swoosh’s top two non-signature series. Here’s a look at the Lunar HyperGamer in four new colorways, a set that’s done half in Oklahoma City Thunder colorways, perhaps foreshadowing sneaker journeyman Russell Westbrook’s adoption of the model when the NBA season finally begins. There’s also one you’d call out for being a Sacramento Kings colorup along with one classic ‘Blackout’ look, so click through to see ‘em all, let us know how they rank and Nike Free Run 3.0 V3 stick with Sneaker News for the US release dates. via Kenlu
Archers throughout North America are less than a month away from turning their bows on the forest’s deer population, and though most of them will be wearing some form of camouflage and/or blaze orange, here’s a sneaker that has both and yet not even Mercury himself would be swift enough to keep cover whilst wearing a pair. The Jeremy Scott x Nike Originals JS Wings ‘Camo’ isn’t exactly intended to keep you concealed, and in fact, the four-color camo and blaze orange accents on these are likely to have people looking at you repeatedly. Another day, another new Nike Zoom Kobe VI Team Bank colorway. Ok, so it hasn’t really happened like that, but since around the time school let out early this summer, this is now the fifth ZK6 TB we’ve profiled. With 2011′s ‘Year of the Rabbit’ release being the first one out of the gate for the Free Run legacy series and now the Air Free Run 2012′s inaugural look being a zodiac themed one as well, should we be on the look out for the Air Free Run 2013 ‘Year of the Snake’ this time next year? It may be a bit too far out to start making predictions, so for the time being let’s focus on the sneakers at hand. Coming in some of the wildest packaging we’ve seen for a Nike Free Run 4.0 V2 sneaker release, the Air Free Run 2012 YOTD really goes the extra mile with all of the included goodies, swappable insoles, removeable booties etc. Hit the jump to get familiar with this upcoming release and stick with Sneaker News to get word on when they drop. via Kenlu

With the Nike Zoom KD 5 hitting its stride, we’re starting to see the options widen considerably in contrast to the scattered premium drops from the tail end of 2012. Just yesterday we showed you the black/white-varsity Nike Free Run 5.0 V1 red pair and now we’ve got some shots of a new black and white combo that throws in some hits of deep royal around the strap and various accents of the sneaker. The Nike Zoom KD 5 has been heralded up to this point for the crazy graphical treatment on pairs like the ‘Year of the Dragon’, but there’s always room for some subtler looks like these in the m6.0. Almost two years ago Sneaker News showed you one of the most impress5e vintage collections of Nikes and Air Free Runs that some of you may have never known existed. One of the most interesting pairs in his stash was a pair of Nikes made for legendary musician Elton John, a shoe that dates back to the late 70′s-early 80′s era. Nike made a few more special editions of its Nike runners for musicians, like this vintage Nike Road Runner (which debuted in 1979) made for Jefferson Starship, a rock band that enjoyed its peak in popularity in the early 1980′s. This navy/silver pair of the Road Runner features ‘STAR’ and ‘SHIP’ on the heel-tabs in a ‘futuristic’ typefont typically seen on the band’s album artwork. Check out the images of this rare vintage Nike gem after the jump and check out the current bid price of the auction from lo71 on eBay.
